When my oldest daughter was 3 we excitedly took her to the Smithsonian's touring exhibit in Kansas City. We told her she would get to see Kermit and ride a carousel and she was VERY excited. As she stood looking at the lifeless Kermit she said, "I thought we were going to see the REAL Kermit, not just some puppet."

You've written a beautiful tribute that reallu captures the spirit of Mr. Henson's work. He had to have loved people(with all their flaws) to capture them so well in his creations. I miss him, too.

I remember when Mr. Henson died. I was struck by the fact that a guy who was so careful about the creations he came up with could ignore pneumonia raging through his own body until it was basically too late for the doctors to do anything to help him. He appearently worked himself to death.
