I lived in New Boston for 9 years. In fact you can see the peak of my house in the top photo to the right and above the monument. I was always curious about the monument but never knew the story until now.

We made a few late night pilgrimages to the anti-gravity rock at Colby. As the story goes, it was originally in a prominent spot on campus but was moved "for safety reasons" after being knocked over by members of the football team. Now that out-of-the-way spot is becoming developed, I'm sure it will be moved to another "safe" local.
