It’s Still Quiet in the Ruins: Return to Medfield State Hospital

April 17, 2019 — Want to walk with me among the ruined buildings of an abandoned medical complex? It’ll be nice and not creepy at all. I promise.

Five and a half years later, I return to what is still one of my favorite sites in New England, the abandoned campus of Medfield State Hospital in Medfield, Massachusetts. Since I’ve already written about it, I’ll just say that I’m happy to report it’s still open to the public despite constant rumors of re-development. If anything, this campus of boarded-up buildings has become an even more welcoming place with new informational signs and easier parking and dog walkers exulting in a spring that has finally touched New England.

I didn’t have time to swing by the nearby hospital cemetery or Death Bridge, but here are some new photos of the abandoned hospital itself.
